Children's Multivitamin/mineral (MVM) Dietary Supplement National Study
A study of children’s MVMs (dietary supplements sold for use by children and containing three or more vitamins with or without minerals or other bioactive components) was conducted to estimate the relationship between label values and analytical values for priority vitamins and minerals. Products identified as representative of the US market were purchased in 2008 from nationwide retail outlets and through direct-to-consumer sales channels. Samples were sent to qualified laboratories for the analysis of 20 vitamins and minerals using validated methods and appropriate quality assurance measures. Documentation about the methods for sampling and testing samples and a summary of the testing results are reported in the Children’s MVM Research Summary. The statistical results and their National Health and Nutrition Examination Survey (NHANES) application tables (2005-2010) can be downloaded from the Data Files page. An interactive ingredient calculator for Children's MVMs is available on the Children's MVM Calculators page.
